Child & Adolescents Therapy
Our Psychologists have a wide range of skills for working with children & adolescents. They have years of experience in working with a variety of issues such as self–esteem, anger management, bullying, exam stress, challenging behaviour, school refusal and other mental health concerns.
Children (5-12 years)
The Psychologist will meet with one or both parents for 1 hour to gain a detailed understanding of the difficulty from the parent’s perspective. The child does not attend this session. At this point a therapeutic plan can be put in place which may involve sessions with the child, the parents & child or the parents alone.
Adolescents (13 – 17years)
Parents may decide it would be useful to attend the first session for 10-15 minutes to share their views.Alternatively the adolescent may prefer to attend the first session without their parents. Parents may bring the adolescent to the session to sign the consent form. As confidentiality is important for adolescents parents do not usually attend further sessions. Depending on individual circumstances, family sessions may be suggested at a later date.
